VideoSpider Server Features
Core of VideoSpider is based on IP networking technology. Video monitoring – using LAN, WAN or the Internet.
Multiple server installations provide physical connection to the cameras, alarm sensors, access control and intruder detention devices. Interconnected with network the servers are capable of streaming live or recorded video data to multiple remote destinations (clients) without interruption of their primary mission - recording. Video data storage can be centralized or distributed among several locations to provide virtually unlimited aggregate recording capacity. Finally, client systems can be placed practically anywhere within the reach of the network (wired or wireless) to perform remote video monitoring, playback, server and storage management. This distributed and easily expandable concept enables VideoSpider customers to implement large – scale surveillance projects on enterprise or the global, truly worldwide level.
Distinctive role separation between servers and clients
- Servers are optimized for real time video compression, storage and network streaming
- Clients can perform live monitoring, with the smallest latency, advanced recorded video playback and server management
- Net Proxy server can combine links to several remote servers in itself to be as one server, so the clients may access these servers by using only couple of TCP ports and it will look like one server is online
Extensive possibilities of client-server interaction
- Dozens of clients can be connected to one server for live viewing or playback
- Users can watch live video from large number of servers at the same time
- Playback of any recorded video segment can be done by multiple clients simultaneously
- Changes of live viewing options on client do not affect the video recording on the server
- Servers can stream video using point-to-point (TCP, RTP) or multicast (UDP) protocols simultaneously
- Net Remoting may be used to control the server instead of the security dangerous and heavy DCOM
- Network bandwidth usage optimizations by streaming only the required video channels to the client
- Remote clients may use a variety of software tools to access servers – from Internet Explorer to full-featured client application program
- Hardware decoding systems allow to watch up to full 24 D1 MPEG-4 streams on 6 monitors from one PC
- Additional visual meta data (in EMF format) may be streamed with the video content and be displayed on a video pane of the client side
- Backwards and frame-by-frame MPEG Playback from the remote storage location
- Client support for simultaneous LIVE preview of multiple media types at the same time
Low-latency video/audio data compression and storage
- Real-time multi-channel H.264/MPEG4 video encoding specially optimized for surveillance task
- Several audio digitizing hardware choices and compression formats are available
- Each audio channel may be independently assigned to any video channel
- Flexible compressed video data rate (bit rate) and quality control for each channel
- Adjustable data storage rate (from 10 to 1500 MB/hour per channel)
- Automatic archiving of old video for data storage optimization
- Selectable continuous or event-triggered recording modes for each channel
- Time-lapse recording mode for compatibility with legacy analog systems
- User-specified pre-alarm and post-alarm recording duration
- Real time automatic data indexing for fast random access during the playback
- Automatic tape backup feature with optional support for robotic tape auto-loader
- Built-in recording scheduler, segment slicing and least-recently-used file overwriting
- Fail-safe switching to a reserve/additional storage if the main location is full
- Automatically resumes recording on AC power loss
- Complete support of remote storage servers, SAN and NAS
Various ways to handle external devices and events
- Video motion and static detection with sensitivity level and up to 4 zones map adjustment for any types of cameras
- Pan/Tilt/Zoom interface to wide range of supported camera models via RS232/422/485 interface
- Alarm events can be triggered by any of up to 32 external sensors
- Pre-programmed or manual activation of up to 16 external relay switches
- Sophisticated alarm handling software can start/stop of the recording process, enable or disable motion and static detection, produce an on-screen warning text and/or beep, bring up a video camera display window and change a quality and/or frame rate setting for any video channel
- Optional Spider Event Notification Server (SpENSer™) further improves alarm and abnormal situation handling capabilities. It is capable of sending e-mail and SMS messages, activate external devices, control PTZ cameras, etc.
- Export of Live and Storage video content into various multimedia .avi (.asf) files (DivX, MJPEG, QuickTime) and TV output
Security and remote access control features
- Unauthorized access is prevented by native Windows security
- Supervisor- and user- access levels available
- Flexible permissions control for every individual camera (view, modify) or action (recording control, playback, alarm reset)
